How To Improve Search Engine Ranking Easily

by Lee Dobbins

Getting your webpages place highly in the search engines is critical. It is widely know that the most important factors needed to improve search engine ranking are, optimization of your pages, quality back links and original content. No matter how competitive your niche is, you should pay attention to these elements.

What exactly are the factors you should hone in on?

Before beginning consider the keywords you will use. Since you're attempting to get this page ranked, your first step should be to pick out a few relevant words or phrases as keywords. Researching your keywords with care is necessary to insure you get a targeted phrases with the least amount of competition. It is imperative that you spend enough time selecting the word or phrase you want to use to position your pages.

Search engines look at both on page and off page factors when ranking a web page. On page factors refer to what you put on the page. This includes your alt tags, title, meta tags and the content itself. The content on your website needs to attract visitors. As you improve your rankings and draw more people to your site your chances of making a sale will greatly increase if the content is good and useful.

If you include your keyword phrase in the title, in the description and keyword meta tags, and work it into the content throughout the page, you can improve search engine ranking. Having the phrase about 3 times will be best - don't overuse it. Also, you want to use the keyword in your filename.

When it comes to increased ranking, on page factors are important, but it's the off page factors that really count. This means the links that point back to your page. Links to your page should include the keyword phrase in the anchor text as often as possible. It is important however, that you don't have all the anchor text the same - mix it up a bit with variations of the keyword phrase so it looks natural. While the best links come from pages that are highly relevant to your topic and provide high quality content, links from pages with more general content are still useful.

If you'd like to draw more traffic to your web page, and improve search engine ranking, then getting more links is the way to go. The links are most important - even more so that what is actually on your page. You can land on the first page of most of the search engines by achieving more links than competing sites, assuming everything else is equal.
