Web Hosting Tips

Many web hosting companies provide free hosting services. Those of us who are going to build web sites for the first time may start an account in any of the free hosting web sites. You may either select your domain to your free host or may craft your open sub domain with your web hosting company.

It is not necessary for someone new to creating a personal website to spend any money at all. With the use of free web hosting services, you will have free file and image hosting. These companies make it possible for you to have all of your files and pictures stored for free. However, there are usually limits to the size of the files you are uploading.

Why would a company want to offer free web hosting? They place advertisements on your web site at the top, bottom or location of their choice. The advertisers then pay the hosting company for any clicks, traffic or sales generated by these ads. These ads may even include pop up advertising which unfortunately may bother visitors to your web site. However, these ads generate the revenue which allows you to receive free web hosting.

A limitataion of this that that you should consider is that signing up for a free hosting account can take from an hour to a week to get the account activated. Nearly all webhosts that provide this free service have to endorse each new account physically.

Since the service is free, you should be aware that there limitations. You are only entitled to a certain number of email IDs and FTP accounts and there wont be any PHP, ASP or MySql support. Additionally, you may not have the option of inserting extra domains into your existing account.

Another major thing is that every file may not be supported to upload to the server. Even compressed zip files are not allowed to be uploaded for security reasons. You can use the Internet search engines to locate a free web host which will provide you what is necessary.

A paid hosting company is an alternative to consider if you are dissatisfied using a free hosting service. Paid hosting companies provide personal service and increased support for their customers. However, a change to a paid hosting service is really only required if you are unhappy with your current free hosting service.
