Create a website For Your New Business

by Tem Balanco

Having your website made can be a long and sometimes difficult process, but the rewards are worth the effort. If you want to create a website for a business, it can increase your exposure and possibly your customer base. Here are some things you'll want to think about, however:

1.Establish the purpose of your site. What do you intend your site to do for your business? Is it a simple FAQ about your company? Or will it be more complicated, where your customers can make orders, transact online, or give you customer feedback? Listing your objectives will let you (or your programmer) know what functions are best suited for your site.

2.Don't put all of your information up front. Many sites have information overload: too much content all at once, so that when the potential client logs on, he's immediately flooded with info. Put only the most important information on your front page, and divide the rest into chunks that your client can process, one at a time. Remember that most Net users have a short attention span- the goal of your page is to give just enough information at a time to interest the potential client,so that the deeper the client goes into your site, the more he will want to know more and more about your business.

For that same reason, keep your layout clean when you create a website. Avoid long blocks of text, especially text that will require your user to scroll down. You want them to see only the most important information, and then if they want to know more, give them other pages they can look at for further information.

3.Readability is the key. As much as you'd like to use loud colors or huge fonts, the Internet is not a shouting competition. Being loud, visually, only annoys many users, and gives them a bad first impression when they enter your site. Keep your colors tasteful- reading on a monitor already places enough of a strain on the eyes, without your use of wild colors or big letters splashed across the page.

4.Lastly, keep your site up-to-date. If your site is about a fast-paced industry where a lot of things change quickly, like automobiles or computers, then you want to have your site updated regularly. For this reason, you may want to look into content management systems for your site. If you want to create a website that will just have your company info and contact details, then a simple, static website will suffice.

To create a website for your business may improve your profts. But to do so, you have to design an effective site. It helps to first determine what exactly you want your site to do for your business. This will determine the content of the site. Also remember to keep your layout clean, and easy on the eyes. To keep users from getting bored, don't present too much information all at once.
