Editing the programs that start along with your system is one effective way of how to speed up PC performance. If you have a Windows operating system, what you have to do is open the start menu, click run and enter "MSConfig" in the text box. Afterwards, click the startup tab and edit them. If you're using a Mac, open system preferences, click "accounts" and your own account. This will enable access to the login items tab wherein you can edit your those programs.

Besides this process mentioned above, you can also enter services.msc on the run command. This allows you to edit how the services you see on Task Manager behaves. Remember that some services seen on Task Manager are critical and cannot be closed; however, there are also services that are of no use to you. If you have a Mac computer, you need not edit these services as its performance is not affected by having a number of them running at the same time.

Defragmenting your hard drive is also another good method that will lead to a faster computer. Before you fragment though, make sure that you back all your files up because the process may cause file damage. Doing this on your hard drive will result to more disk space and ultimately, a faster computer.

Aside from these techniques, you may also speed up your computer through downloadable software. If you go on the web, you can search for programs that help your computer in making it perform better. One such program is Registry Booster. What Registry Booster does is it gets rid of unnecessary registry entries, making computer performance seamless. When one uninstalls a program, there are some registry entries that are left and should be deleted manually as they slow down your computer. Using software similar to Registry Booster is one of the safest ways to deal with this.

If you've tried all these and your computer's still isn't performing to your preferences, then the only way to go now is to improve your hardware. Getting a high performing processor is one of the best ways of how to speed up PC performance. Adding 1-2GBs of RAM will also result to better performance. If you're quite the gamer, then you'll need a high end video and graphics card. If these don't make your computer faster, then we don't know what will.
